A biofuel is a fuel primarily derived from plants, and it contracts its energy from the process of carbon fixation. Carbon fixation takes inorganic carbon in from things like C02 and turns it into organic components, which is a living molecule. This is defined as biological carbon fixation, and can be in the form of a solid, liquid or gas.
There are Four Types Of Biofuel
First – Generation Biofuels: Are obtained from animal, vegetable fats, also from starch and soya. Which can then be used as Bio -Diesel, Bio-Gas, and Vegetable Oils.
Second – Generation Biofuels: Is produced from man made waste (Biomass). They are made up of various types of alcohols and diesel, which are produced from wood.
Third – Generation Biofuels: Which are environmentally friendly biofuels. Things like algae can be produced easily, and can be decomposed back into the earth making it more environmentally compatible.
Fourth – Generation Biofuels: This is achieved by mixing C02 with micro organisms thus producing biofuel.
Well is Biofuel the way forward? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, we need to find other alternative fuel sources and fast. We need to explore biofuels more in depth. We need to have strict policies in place, and we need good science to guide us. This needs to be done properly with no corners cut. Biofuel could be the way forward for our planet and civilization, but we need to test and test to make sure.
